I totally agree on Reed Sorenson... He was with Turner last year in 3rd in points and he gets booted... He shows he can do it just he cant get the ride to do it in... hes been at Ganassi and Petty in cup 2 teams that arnt the greatest

Jennifer Jo Cobb. Other than DP, she is the only other female driver in any of NASCAR's top series.

Personally I would add Regan Smith to the list. He's easily the most underrated driver in cup if not the entire top 3, and he got stuck at furniture row after DEI's struggles. I believe if given a top ride in any series Regan would shine.

My long list would probably include:

Reed Sorenson
Brad Sweet
Blake Feese
Regan Smith
Landon Cassil
Casey Atwood
Erik Darnell
Burney Lamar
Stephen Leicht
Jon Wood
Dexter Bean
Colin Braun
David Gilliland
Brad Coleman
JJ Yeley
Johnny Sauter
Elliott Sadler
Scott Speed
Brendan Gaughan
Brian Vickers
Michael McDowell
Casey Mears
Scott Riggs
Travis Kvapil
Chad McCumbee
Jason White
Josh Wise

I'd also be interested to see what guys like Eric McClure, Robert Richardson Jr., and other guys like that could do in better equipment.

Reed Sorenson Ganassi
David Gilliland Yates
JJ Yeley Gibbs
Elliott Sadler Yates/Evernham (When they were good)
Scott Speed RBR
Brendan Gaughan Penske
Brian Vickers Hendrick, RBR
Michael McDowell MWR, although the team was young at the time IIRC
Casey Mears Ganassi, Hendrick, RCR
Scott Riggs Evernham
Travis Kvapil Penske

All of these drivers have had a decent Cup ride at least once in their career. Not saying they shouldn't deserve a second chance but they had the opportunity to shine and didn't. Although before Elliott Sadler goes anywhere he should wrap up a Nationwide championship.

hey David24, I look at your post I see some of them for example Scott Speed at RBR, well yea it had been good last year but at the time he was driving the with the team it wasnt that great, that alone I believe they had Vickers car better anyway, same with a few others on that list.

Elliot Sadler actually did pretty good in the 38 car, didnt they just pull out of Nascar though and go with Roush? and when he was at Evernham the team had a horrible season, him nor Kasey had a good year

I agree with the guy who said Johnny Benson...If he had the equipment Mark did when he was @ Roush (the 6 & 99 were on a different level than the 16, 26, and 97) he would of probably had a career similar to Jeff Burton. Then even after Roush, he made the #10 look really stout.

In '01 he almost was in the top 10 and then after breaking his ribs 2x in '02, he won a race and if he used his bumper @ Martinsville, he would of won another.

I just felt he never got the chance to fully shine and was booted for Riggs after a struggling '03.

But then he went to the trucks and was rejuvenated winning 14 times in 3 years and winning the title in 2008. He easily could have won the other 2 if not for amazing years by Bodine and Hornaday.

What happened...he was defending champ and he didn't have a full time ride...what a joke.

I think he still has it and I wish Ricky Craven would come out of retirement too because I would like to see how they would do in premium equipment. If Craven didn't have all of those concussions he would of been another Jeff Burton. Look what he did with the #32 car.

Shane Huffman should get a shot, Jr. Motorsports gave him very little time.

Stephen Leicht run one cup race in Dave Blaney's car and did awesome.

Scott Speed was probably in the mix at one of the road races when his car blew up, RBR never really seemed to put their eggs in his basket. The guy could and probably should have won an ARCA title.

Danny O'Quinn Jr. What happened to him? Always did well in poor equipment then got relegated to S&P.

Casey Atwood was a real talent and I find it mind bogling that he's gone off the map when you look at some of the talent in the mid packs of NW and the CWTS.

Robert Richardson Jr. Proved he could wheel a car at Daytona with that terrifying mid pack slide, he's a guy who I think could do well in better NW equipment.

And of course Colin Braun >> David Ragan.

I agree with almost all of these drivers. Scott Speed was a personal favorite of mine since he ran in the F1 series, but I feel like something just never clicked. I feel like he can drive, but didn't have the chemistry, or the experience. He ran well in Nationwide, and should have won the ARCA championship in 2008.

J.J. Yeley was another one I wish had a better shot. Maybe when he was with Gibbs that was his and he just choked, but I don't know. When he won the triple crown in USAC I thought that was pretty impressive, and thought he had a good career in front of him.

And another that no one has mentioned, in my opinion, would be Dario Franchitti. I know he's doing awesome in IndyCar and has no reason to ever come back to NASCAR, but he did well in Nationwide, and had potential to do really well in Cup. I think Ganassi threw him into a Cup car too early. But then he got hurt in the Nationwide race at Daytona or Talladega, I can't remember which track, and had to sit out awhile. Then he ended up going back to IndyCar and dominating haha.

To be fair, though, if he really wanted to be back in NASCAR, he would have had a ride by now. If I was in his shoes, I'd also take nearly having 5 consecutive IndyCar titles over running mid-pack in stock cars.

That's why I said he has no reason to come back haha.
