I've been using the same formula with NRatings for "8 seasons" (26 race seasons) with the cars as follows:

Aero 80/85
Engine 45/60
Chassis 45/60
Reliability 100/100

Pit Crew all 85/100

I use NRatings for the driver ratings like I have always done. The same Car ratings for every driver. Basically the same tracks. Almost all my races end with half the field wrecking out and no long runs where the cars have to pit under green!

It's so frustrating, especially Indianapolis/Pocono. Richmond use to be a great track as well but they just wreck like crazy now.

I haven't changed anything else. Will the cars get more grip by upping the chassis? Should I downgrade the engine/aero/chassis of the cars so they go slower? Should I start a season less than 96%? (I've been using 96% speed for all other seasons.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've never had anything like this happen before!

You sorta implied you didn't change anything, and if you changed something you didn't say what.
The cars will not get more grip by upping the chassis (rating), at least not that's noticeable, but the ai will exhibit better car control.
I would classify Engine 45/60 as too low already. A top flight ai should have 80/low90's.
I'm not sure what "96% speed" is. Opponent strength? Opponent strength should be set to match your speed (ability) to the top drivers.

It might sound simplistic, but if you haven't made any changes you should be getting the same results that you have had in the past. So, obviously, something has been changed.
The usual suspects:
1. papy_ai.ini
2. a different version of the track(s)
3. track.ini changes, including a different chassis type, grip levels, various ai_track values that aren't matched to the chassis type or grip levels
4. different lp's
5. ai ratings, driver/track-type. Too low vehicle/chassis rating is a major contributing factor for ai bad driving, especially if the driver/track-type is also low. I would say 45 is unacceptable if there is any close racing. I wouldn't go lower then 50, and 60 or more would be preferred.
