Why do you think it was a hard decision for his dad to pick between Brian and Brad if Brian didn't have similar talents to Brad? antknee10 said that Brian doesn't have the talent how does he know that? Why didn't you ask him also?

I know he doesn't have talent because he's been TRYING to run in the Nationwide series for the past 5 years. History tells me this. I'll give him some credit, he did get 3 wins in ARCA, but that's a long way from Cup competition.

I hope he does well, I really do. I just don't understand why people get so giddy when someone manages to qualify for one race (with a lot of help).

Brian is a good driver no doubt - but qualifying that tin-shed over super qualifiers like Blaney, Nemechek, etc. is virtually impossible for anyone - let alone a guy who's never done it before in a terrible car.

And it's phoenix - give me one race to not do in a bad car it'd be phoenix!! Flat, pretty fast, need horsepower off the corners, need major grip in the corners - a multi-year old car will be impossibly slow.

All he has to do is beat out the equally Slow #64 and probably the #32 or #66

not as hard as it has been in the past few years.:twitcy:

Too bad he didn't still have his Nationwide teams. He could show up with the # 26,92,96 and all three would qualify for the race! ;)

I can appreciate all the love being shown for Brian, but I think some of us just need to be a little more realistic with the idea of him being an unknown talent that hasnt gotten a chance. He ran decent in ARCA at times, but ARCA to Nationwide is a giant step up. While its true that sub-par equipment can and will overtake good talent, theres still situations in which talent can shine through. Taking a 35th place car and finishing 25th or so would be an example of that, and something people notice.

Someone like Josh Wise who drove for Armando Fitz and Specialty Racing had to drive sup-par equipment for a few years but was able to demonstrate an ability to get more out of the car than what it was worth, and do it without tearing up equipment. People take notice of that and it landed him a shot driving for JRM. Brian hasnt gotten a shot in better equipment for a reason. Reguardless of the equipment he's in, he hasnt really demonstrated anything to suggest he has the talent worth putting into a good program.

The 500 deal was a great cinderella story and a real cool thing to see, but it wasnt really indicative of where he is at as a race car driver. The new form of plate racing and having Brad push him is what got him into the race. At plate tracks, anybody has a shot.

I'm not knocking the guy or anything like that. I met him once out in Dover a couple years ago and seemed like a cool guy from what I could tell. I can also appreciate the work he and his father put in to get to the race track. However, suggesting that he might possess the same talent as his brother is just not realistic.

Mike Bliss is in the #64 this week he's made a career out of qualifying with sub-par stuff. (Not to knock him he's one of my favorite drivers)

RP is right Brian is a good driver not a great driver. He will probably make a few more starts before season's end but I don't see them making the full schedule. It was awesome to see him race in at Daytona but in single car runs he was dreadfully slow.

UPDATE: Terry Blount reported on ESPN's NASCAR Now Tuesday that #92-Brian Keselowski is still trying to get his car ready for Phoenix after it sufffered damage in a wreck a Daytona. The team is hopeful that they can complete the work in time to leave for Phoenix. If they are unable to get ready, the team's next race will likely be Bristol.(2-23-2011)

I don't see why they would want to go to Phoenix it's not like they got the #77's owners' points.

Sails + Lack of Wind = RP

LoL. You're probably right, I mean, Bob & Brian even packed up and got ready to leave before the Duel was finished. They were not even competitive but I have a feeling their will be a handful of 43 car entry lists, and I hope Keselowski takes advantage of that to upgrade their equipment from 2006 to 2008 or 2009. Morgan-McClure was using a 2007 Chevy COT and they were getting blown away by the 2009 versions. When interviewed they said that the big teams have figured all the tweaking and alterations they CAN do to improve performance, unlike in 2007 when it was "black & white" time for those teams.

I hope Keselowski is smart and improves his team, does not hurt it.

Looking at the entry list - he's gonna find it hard to qualify about dead last.

Just being honest.
Some guys who have go-or-go-homed for a year or two now have sponsors and mean business!
And the ones that don't have sponsors will burn the engines down to get in.

Brian's gotta be 110% perfect on his 2 laps!

i agree... it will take alot for him to get a good starting position! i doubt that he will finish the whole race, either his car will have problems or he will get caught up in a wreck...

That is even if they fixed the car for the race.

Brian is taking a completely different car than the Daytona one. This is the last Evernham car he has left. They were nearly finished with it Tuesday morning and they will be a Phoenix.

I bet brother Brad will help finance a few Penske Racing Dodges for Brian to race through the year.

I know guys like Brian and his dad Bob want to go at it them selves and make something out of it but I would think if they have options out there to help them out it would be hard to turn them away, right?

According to Jayski the 64 might withdraw leaving only 44 cars to qualify

Yea the 64 is off the official entry list now. Looks like its going to be 44 cars.

I hate to say it but even having only one car to beat, I think its going to be a tall order for Brian. I guess the car he has Kahne won with in Charlotte in 2008, so hopefully its a decent piece, but I have my doubts.

If they were offered some help, I think it would be in their best interest to take it. I know Roger Penske offered a motor for the 500 but they couldnt use it because the car was set up for the previous generation motor so there was too much to change over and not enough time . I've always wondered just how much, if any, help Brad has or does offer.

#92-Brian Keselowski, who became one of the feel-good stories at the Daytona 500 after being pushed into the race by his brother, will attempt to qualify for Sunday's Sprint Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway. The older brother of Penske Racing driver #2-Brad Keselowski was skeptical he would be able to get the second car that was purchased from the old Evernham Racing inventory prepared in time to make the trip west. His Daytona car was involved in a 14-car wreck on Lap 29 and "was pretty much junk." After working around the clock, Keselowski said the Phoenix car that Kasey Kahne won with at Charlotte in 2008 is ready and headed to Phoenix on the hauler. Keselowski's is one of 45 cars on the entry list for Phoenix, although there might be only 44. The driver was told the #64 Larry Gunselman car plans to withdraw, which would mean he has to beat only one car in qualifying to make the field.(ESPN.com), according to an updated NASCAR entry list, the #64 team has withdrawn.(2-24-2011)

I believe that they have a good chance of making the race. The #32 was very slow with Terry Labonte at Daytona and Mike Skinner isn't exactly great at cup racing (not like he had a great chance).

Brian wants to "make his way" in NASCAR....but I promise you, that if someone offered him a fleet of 20 competitive Dodge engines & cars complete with a full race-day crew...he would NOT turn it down. You would have to be a MORON to turn it down.

With Penske closing the # 77 team down, he has a large inventory that probably won't be used since the # 77 had 2nd generation stuff, I imagine. Maybe Penske will work a deal with Brian to sell them for 60% cost if Brian puts a Discount Tire decal on his car, or something along those lines. It helps Penske clear out his "old" equipment and it helps Brian get to a competitive position.

I would like to see BriKes find SOMETHING competitive. Although, he looks scary, doesn't he? ;)

Go BriKes! (Better than KevCon!)

I would of thought that Penske would sell/give Brian the #77 owners' points since now that it's after Daytona the points just went away.
