Will running high graphics burn your video card/chip up?

I'm running on Intel graphics if that matters. I plan on getting a PC with a good video card sometime soon so if you guys could recommend a good video card that'd be nice. So anyway, I'm currently running decent graphics, (they look awesome to me considering what I have been running) and I was worried that it would burn the chip up. I've been gaming on it since December and haven't been encountering any problems.

Thanks.

Most all your middle to high-end graphics cards have heat protection and fans to prevent overheating issues. Unless you plan on overclocking your graphics card I can't see that being an issue. You always need to make sure your PC case has good air flow and fans but other than that just high end graphics are not going to burn up a graphics card or CPU running in standard settings.

If you’re running a standard Intel card you’re a long way from seeing some of the better graphics this game and others has to offer. Nascar is older and still relies on the CPU to really get the frame rates up while running at the top levels of the game. I good indication is I had a BFG NVidia 285 OC Card and replaced it last year with a EVGA 585 super clocked card faster and more memory.. I picked up only 1 fps in the game because the BFG 285OC could handle anything graphic wise NR2003 needed. I use that as an example to say don't over spend on a real fast high end graphics card if Nascar is your main game and that's all your looking to update.
My reason was I play BF3, COD MW3, Crysis, and other game that the new card allowed the use of DirectX 11 and better FPS.

CPU wise I running a I7 3.2Ghz processor chip, from standard setting to over clocking it to 4.oGhz I picked up around 15fps in Nascar Racing 2003. That gives you an idea of how much this older game relies on CPU vs. GPU. You can find several post here on the forum that will help you pick what card is best for you.. I like NVidia chipsets myself and had really good luck with EVGA so far. I'm sure others will post and help you get pointed in the right direction on a new Graphic card

Best of luck and welcome to the PC gaming world
. :)

Thanks! Helped a bunch. And it often gets hot on the bottom but I do only run a couple races and that's it. Btw, NR2003 is the only PC game I have, I don't plan on getting other computer games anytime soon.
