.....announce a race? I wanna know this from tough critics. If you've heard me commentate, lemme know what you think honestly. I have been thinking about sending a resume to my local short track to see if I can make some money off of doing what I wanna do. If you have not seen my announcing skills (I wouldn't call them skills) I'll give you all a taste. Here's a recent video I made: 2010ZRWSGNSTestRaceReDone.zip

If you don't wanna download, I'll send you a YouTube link of one I did.

Please guys, I want some feedback. How can I improve stuff, what more could I do, etc. Thanks!

Not good...too choppy...you need to make your voice different for a second commentator...possibly make your own channel acronym, and don't have the drivers "scroll" if your not going to have them scroll, I wouldn't even use them at superspeedways anyways...but those are all my opinions.

I'm going to be making the 2010 Red Devil 200: Live on ASN Presented by NAPA Auto Parts this weekend..so you can watch it for some pointers...

Too much stuttering and pausing, I also heard a couple of voice cracks too. Make sure to inhale properly, your gasping was very noticable in parts especially when you were speaking fast. I'd recommend speaking slower.

lol. 7:14 is hilarious also.

So here's a few things that you should pay attention to:
-Calm down, they're racing, not you.
-Since you haven't gotten into your "man voice" yet, I'd recommend not trying to use every inch of breath you have in your lungs, just breathe normally and the cracking and gasping problem will go away (hopefully)
-Think before you speak, stuttering and stammering is not what your audience is going to want.

I'm not trying to be mean, but I'd practice for several weeks before even attempting an audition, no job comes without a little work and I'm sure there will be competition for the job that will easily succeed where you have weaknesses in.

Keep in mind when reading this, that I am not an announcer nor will I ever claim to be.

IMO, you didn't do that bad.

Like the guys above said, you need to talk "smoother" if that make sense. Your voice is choppy. Make your voice and words flow. Dont studder, just stop talking when you get caught up on your words. Studdering is alot worse than you just stopping and catching your breathe. You were trying to talk the whole time when thats really not neccessarry. I have raced go-karts then cars my whole life and have been around ALOT of tracks and heard lots of different announcers. None of them talk 100% of the time like you were trying to do. Your pitch problems are just puberity I'm assuming. That will go away. lol

With that being said, you did very well to be a "rookie" at announcing. I think with some practice and toning it down a bit, you will be fine.

now i didn't check your video, but I have actually been looking for someone to add a little "professionalism" to a race i recently did. As soon as I find someone good I might come to them for more.

Game recordings were choppy.

He was just using it as an example on how he would commentate.

Besides, that's way better than the 1fp2s I get when I try recording lol. Otherwise I would have made some crash and/or race compilations by now.

My suggestion go to a local track. Either dirt or asphalt. Find the announcer and talk to him/her.

They can give you pointers, and if its ok with the promoter, they may let you give it a try in a heat race.

Can't hurt to ask. I have seen it done at the local tracks here in Minnesota. They want knowledgable and entertaining announcers.

We have an announcer that is always telling the guys to slow down on a caution, even though the drivers can't hear him.

OK. Thanks for the more.

I don't know how I'm "sputtering", but OK.
