How would your dream schedule look? Mine would be 32 points races, with a 10-race chase and 8 non points events. Here it is (using the dates they would in 2011): (Bolded are non-points events)
Bud Shootout (Daytona)-75 laps, 187.5 miles
Gatorade Duels (2 races at Daytona)-60 laps, 150 miles

1. Daytona-200 laps, 500 miles-2/20
2. Texas-250 laps, 375 miles-2/27
3. Nashville Superspeedway-300 laps, 400 miles-3/6
4. New Hampshire-250 laps, 250 miles approximately-3/20
5. Michigan-175 laps, 350 miles-3/27
6. Martinsville-500 laps, 250 miles-4/3
7. Chicago-200 laps, 300 miles-4/10
8. Texas Word Speedway-250 laps, 500 miles-4/17
9. Dover (Saturday Night)-400 laps, 400 miles-4/30
10. Homestead-300 laps, 450 miles-5/8
11. Lucas Oil (Saturday Night)-365 laps, about 250 miles-5/14
All-Star Weekend-Showdown (50 laps, 75 miles), All-Star Race (100 laps, 150 miles), and Champions Legend Race (take all past Cup champions that are full-time and race 50 laps on the short track on the quad oval of Charlotte in Legends cars)-5/21
12. Charlotte (Sunday Night)-400 laps, 600 miles-5/29
13. Infineon-125 laps, 250 miles-6/12
14. Phoenix (Saturday Night)-350 laps, 350 miles-6/18
15. Bristol-400 laps, 200 miles-6/26
16. Daytona (Saturday Night)-160 laps, 400 miles-7/2
17. Kentucky (Saturday Night)-267 laps, 400 miles-7/9
18. North Wilkesboro-500 laps, about 312 miles-7/17
19. Pocono-120 laps, 300 miles-7/24
20. Talladega (Saturday Night)-188 laps, about 500 miles-7/30
21. Watkins Glen-90 laps, about 220 miles-8/7
22. Atlanta-300 laps, 450 miles-8/14
Race of the Underdogs at Iowa-150 lap shootout for cash between all drivers winless in the last two seasons-8/21
THE CHASE:
23. Richmond (Saturday Night)-400 laps, 300 miles-8/27
24. Darlington-366 laps, about 500 miles-9/4
25. Disney Speedway-300 laps, 300 miles-9/11
26. Bristol Night Race-500 laps, 250 miles-9/17
27. Indianapolis-160 laps, 400 miles-9/25
28. Montreal-75 laps, a little over 200 miles-10/9
29. Talladega-150 laps, 400 miles-10/23
30. Kansas-267 laps, about 400 miles-10/30
31. Martinsville (Saturday Night)-500 laps, 250 miles-11/5
Late Model Bowman Gray Chase Classic (All Chase drivers have a 100 lap shootout in late models at Bowman Gray Stadium)-11/12
32. Championship Weekend @ The Rock-400 laps, about 400 miles-11/20

I like a varied schedule. NASCAR needs exciting tracks, not these aerodynamic cookie-cutters built for Indy cars. NASCAR gained its popularity by its beating and banging, not by its cookie cutter mile-and-a-half tracks. I also think it should have some marquee races in the Chase to help spice up the attention. How cool would it be to have the Brickyard as a Chase race? Imagination the anticipation and hype. These are just my thoughts.

What would your dream schedule be?

Loudon in March is a very bad idea. Even if the snow was melted by then, the mud in all of the grass parking lots would be a nightmare and make fans reconsider making a return trip to the track.

I'm not going to go through dates and build a whole schedule now because I'm hungry and getting set to cook supper, but I will put down some of my ideas.

Laguna Seca needs a Cup race. Send them Auto Club's date. Level Auto Club, fire Zucker, and build a plate track there to join the schedule. I agree that Texas World and North Wilkesboro need Cup dates. I'd also like to see Cup cars again at Rockingham. Darlington not having Labor Day weekend is a travesty. I'd also like to see them go to places like Irwindale or Iowa. More short tracks, historic tracks, and roadies (I almost forgot that Montreal needs a Cup race), less 1.5 milers. 1 race for Texas, 1 for Vegas, 1 for Atlanta, 2 for Charlotte (and the All-Star) since it's the hub of NASCAR, 1 for Chicago , 1 for Kansas. That's it.

Assuming they don't do what MotoGP did and mess with the track, I'd be fine with it. But do you actually think drivers would be okay with the Corkscrew as it is? I'd rather see NASCAR up in the Northwest. Portland/Seattle area. But I agree Auto Club has to go, it was good for about two years, IMO they ought to level it and stick with Michigan

I don't really have an exact schedule, but I would probably cut the season to 20-25 races tops, and no chase. Daytona would open per usual, but I would cut the second date in July, to keep in line with every other track that would lose its second date. However, I would come back to Daytona for the season ending race, where they use the road course instead of the oval, just like the Grand-AM guys do.
