Some place in Ohio we were driving back from Mississippi and there was this Pumpkin think or something and we couldnt get through so we thought we might as well walk threw and view and I saw this sign i think the place was called TMT or TNT diecast something like that and the guy had about 2 or 3 of those I got it for a great price
NOTE: He told me that wasnt his diecast shop he said it was just for the Pumkin thing or whatever So i really dont where his shop is located if i can remeber where it was ill tell you guys
Got a box set of Mark Martin's 1998 Vavlvoline, Eagle One, and Synpower 1/24 scale. Only 2000 were made. Probably the rarest, but my autographed 1/24 of Bill Elliott's 1998 McDonald's car is the one in the prime display spot. Special to me because he stopped and talked racing with me for about 15 minutes. Awesome Bill is an Awesome Guy.
Not sure hiw "rare" these are but I got a 1/24 Dale Jr. 2005 Chevy Rock'N'Roll 400 3 Doors Down car with the working roof flaps and stuff and a 1/64 1994 Neil Bonnett Country Time Hauler which is like 1 of 5261 or something. Pretty cool if you ask me
I have a Robby Gordon trapt die-cast that is signed by robby. I'm going to see trapt in dec. and i'm going to get them to sign it also. So it will then be rare.
Just for the record, I don't think anything made in 2000-2010, especially for the Cup Series should qualify for this thread. The real hayday of diecast was the 1990s. Here are a few of mine:
1/64 Mark Martin IROC from 1998.
1/24 Ultra Motorsports' #2 So Cal. Ford Dealers Ford F-150 driven by Dave Ashley
1/24 DEI #16 Action Collectibles Chevy driven by Ron Hornaday Jr. autographed by Ron Hornaday.
I have most of the 1995 Supertruck Series in 1/24 and 1/64.
Also of note:
1/24 #33 Dentyne Pontiac driven by Bobby Labonte
1/24 #79 Lipton Tea Ford driven by Dave Rezendes
a 1/24 #6 Red Devil Ford driven by Tommy Houston
#46 Polaroid Chevy driven by Shawna Robinson
1/24 Official Pace Truck of the August 5, 1995 Brickyard 400.
In the 1/64 category, I just now pulled the following out of my surplus drawer:
#84 Mac Tools Ford F-150 driven by Joe Ruttman
#7 Loveable Bra Forf F-150 driven by Tammy Jo Kirk
#19 Child Support Recovery Ford driven by Gary Bradberry (Jeff's not the first)
#31 Hardee's Chevy driven by Ward Burton (Cup rookie car)
#87 Texas Pete Chevy driven by Joe Nemechek
#82 FDP Brakes Ford driven by Derrike Cope
#32 White Rain Ford driven by Dale Jarret
#8 Baby Ruth Ford driven by Jeff Burton
#55 USAir/Jasper Ford driven by Ted Musgrave
#25 Big Johnson Chevy driven by Kirk Shelmerdine
#6 Suburban Propane Ford driven by Tommy Houston
And finally, probably my most obscure of all:
#9 University of Nebraska Ford driven by Lake Speed - THIS CAR NEVER SAW THE LIGHT OF DAY! It never existed! Yet I have both 1/64 and 1/24 scale of it!
See, back in the day, kids like me wanted ALL the cars from ALL the major series. I think most of us who were into that then are the majority of the ones supporting NR2003 today. We still have that same passion, just in a different, and much more wallet-friendly form.
What saddens me is that kids today aren't able to have these cars. Searching for/buying/having these cars is what really grew my Nascar fandom as a kid. Walking into Target/WalMart/Toys R Us was a joy because every visit was like Christmas morning. What new/different would I find? I remember driving rather long distances to neighboring towns because we didn't have a Toys R Us. Then going to the racetrack was like entering heaven. Every diecast I could dream of was available! Not gonna lie, I still to this day have dreams of going into stores and finding cars that I don't have. No living child today will have a single clue of what that was like, and I find that really sad.
I also don't buy the bogus BS argument that diecast, especially of the Nationwide/Truck Series wouldn't sell today. Sure it won't sell in Walmart for $8 for a 1/64 scale and $30+ for a 1/24. I bought my 1/64 for about $2 each! 1/24's were $10! Make and sell them for that price again, and I guarantee huge sales. But that's of course not possible because all the immature children pretending to be adults today want insane amounts of money for the licenses. Screw all you people, and your short-sighted greed. Let the kids of today play with the cars of today. You'd make so much more money hand over fist, but you never will with your head up your collective rear ends.
